Amoktime Cancellation...Thread Closed?

Nothing like squashing FREEDOM OF SPEECH. Woo hoo the thread is closed. I thought forums were for people to discuss & debate things...not have someone sit over them and determine when people are done talking for them. You're no better than those of us discussing...others just have more power here. I was done anyway until I read that it was closed. We'll get over it, but we like to vent a little too. It is as simple as if you don't care...don't read. No wonder I like the Sideshow freaks forum better. At least we can vent and discuss things without someone stomping all over us because they can. I know there are members here that frequent there also. I'm just disappointed that over here you feel like you know who is right & who is wrong and decide to close/delete threads as you wish. We weren't cussing or using foul languange...just debating the circumstances surrounding the issue. Anyway, I'm done ranting...perhaps permanently on this site when I strike a nerve and someone boots me off because they can and don't like what I say. Wonder how long before this thread is deleted.

Man, someone got out the wrong side of the bed this morning

I've never known of strict rules ever needing to be applied in the Argonath, it's always seemed to be pretty peaceful and well-meaning. The rest of the forum, yes, but not the Argonath

Re: Amoktime Cancellation...Thread Closed?

Is there a right side?

Nah...I realize they try to shut things down, but it hadn't even been 24 hrs...give it a chance to die. Perhaps just trying to prevent things from going to far, so understandable. But what point is there to have forums for discussions if you just close/lock them when you (the mods) don't like what you hear? It wasn't a pornographic link, there was no cussing, it was just debating. Oh well...I suppose it's their site, but come on....don't be the ring to rule them all.

If anyone has a problem with a decision I make (or Choopie) in the Argonath. You need to PM myself, Choopie or a SuperMod.

Thank-you.

Re: Amoktime Cancellation...Thread Closed?

I was ready to send a PM...just needed to click the button, but I wanted my voice to be heard and took this route. I was afraid that after the closing if I voiced my opionion in a PM...I'd just get the boot and no one would ever hear from little ole me again. Anyway...is this more about the content of the post that was closed...or me stepping on feet? We all have our moments and we all think we are right most of the time. Touchy subject on what to squash and you make the calls I guess. At least you didn't throw me out...yet.

Re: Amoktime Cancellation...Thread Closed?

jdonoho, never be afraid to PM! It's the best way to communicate with a mod if you have a question or complaint about a decision.

Agent23 and I have talked about this. His take was simply that, since Amoktime had responded, there wasn't any reason to keep the thread going. There were no issues about the content posted in the thread, or the opinions stated there. I agree with and support the decision, but I can understand where you're coming from, too. Again, I encourage you to contact him directly if you seriously disagree with his call; IMO, it's better that you and he talk through it one on one.

Welcome to the boards, by the way! Once you get used to us, I think you'll find that we're really all warm fuzzies here. Let me know if you've got any questions.

I couldn't disagree more, I think this site is much better than Sideshow Freaks.

Both sites have their postivies and negatives to me. It's just silly to start the argument that one is better than the other. Each one of us has our choice of which is better and you can tell in our post counts for those of us that post on both.

I'm not trying to start an argument, I was just responding to someones opinion with my own opinion.

Re: Amoktime Cancellation...Thread Closed?

Well, my post wasn't really in regards to the quality of topics or the people. And it was based on there seeming to be more rules here governing how and what I should talk about or do. Hence the start of this thread. Somethings may be stricter for somewhat legit reasons, so my bad if anyone took this to mean the content or quality of the people...that's not what I was getting at.
