Numenorean of the Last Alliance
Ok guys,
Here's the finished numenorean. The eagle eyes among you will notice that the greaves haven't been changed to the regular numenorean greaves a la gondorian infantryman. In the end i decided to leave aragorn's greaves on and perhaps let him be a higher ranking soldier (also i was too lazy! ). The cape was Elendils with mud splatter simulated with paint and is attached to the figure as it is in real life - tied with a string threaded through the holes i made in the tabard and the cape attachment thingies. The SSW numenorean bust was my reference for this. Suggestions for improvement are welcome.
Note: Brightness/contrast/gamma in the third picture has been digitally manipulated, the rest are original. Not exactly my favourite photo shoot but it'll have to do for now.
Enjoy!

Re: Numenorean of the Last Alliance
Something else i forgot to add:
The really really eagle eyed among you will also notice that i gave our little friend a little breast enhancement with sculpey, cos the base figure without the aragorn's black gate tunic was waaaaaay too flat chested - yes, even for a male. It didn't look too bad without the head on but once i popped the head back on it just looked really weird. The sculpey was sculpted to have the same kind of bulge in the middle that you see on the Gondorian cuirass. All this was covered by the tabard in the end but i think it makes a big difference.

Re: Numenorean of the Last Alliance
SWEET MOTHER OF MOSES!!!!! that is one very, VERY good custom! this is one of my all time favorite customs. it is just soooo realistic and well detailed. his shield is dead on. i also think he looks just the the Sideshow/WETA bust. this is definitely one of the best LOTR customs ever (and i mean that)!

c'mon, is it possible to improve this figure?
well, maybe, actually. i think his neck is a bit too tall. it looks perfect as it is, but it would look even better if it was a tad shorter. but that's just me being very picky....

Spider, that is TRULY incredible. I'm with OK123, that's the BEST custom I've ever seen! It rivals and surpasses anything that Toybiz does. Your attention to accuracy and detail frankly sickens me.
So does your knowledge of armor terms, BTW.
I simply love the helm . . . and the shield . . . and the whole darn thing.
Toooo cool . . .

Re: Numenorean of the Last Alliance
Well Spidey, you've done it again! Superb figure! If there's anything that could make this figure better (in my opinion), it would be a different head and neck.... I despise the "pelennor" aragorn figure, but you've taken a horrible base figure and made it into the most desired figure from the films!! Great job as usual.. the shield and helmet are my favorite parts... but the cuirass is spot-on as well. I was trying to make this figure (without using cloth) and was having the hardest time with the cuirass. Kudos!

Re: Numenorean of the Last Alliance
Really goob job on this figure Peter Parker. But maybe the legs look like too short and too small ... just like PF Aragorn. But its normal if this figure as been used as base. Really like the details of the trees ... look like very professionnal.

Re: Numenorean of the Last Alliance
Whoa, big thanks guys for the super comments! And thanks no less for the constructive criticism too! So far the criticisms point mainly to the flaws in the aragorn base figure and quite frankly, I wouldn't have noticed it if you guys didn't point it out! Looking at the figure again, i agree with OK123 and grinman about the neck issue. The legs looking too short could probably be disguised by hiking up his belt. If time permits, i may make a Numenorean archer in the future (not now though, i'm just beginning work on the OC project) and all your feedback will be channeled into improving Numenorean Mk II. He will of course be made of a different base figure.
As OK123 pointed out though, the toybiz "pelennor" aragorn has the nice side effect of resembling the SSW bust almost uncannily, which to me is a plus point.
I'm glad you guys like the helm and shield. They are by far the parts i'm most proud of and the most challenging to make, shield being second to helm.

I hope you mean that in a positive way!

My knowledge of armor terms extends no further than the glossary of terms at the back of the LOTR Weapons and Warfare book. If you remember back when i was working on the armoured boromir, i was still talking about "those plate thingies that stick out at right angles from the pauldron" and "neck guards". Ever since buying the book it's now "haute-piece" or "stop-rib". A wonderful reference for LOTR customizers, and much much more than just pretty pictures.

This figure is a masterpiece! This has to be one of the best customs I have ever seen, you've nailed his armour right down!! This looks so realistic and well done, I wish TB would release such a high quality figure! (cross fingers)

Very nice!
But I expected as much from the one who mastered the 3rd Age Gondorian Armour
How did you make that spear?

Re: Numenorean of the Last Alliance
Well, Spidey...what can I say now that he is finished? Awesome wouldn't do it justice, he's just perfect. The accuracy of your customs amazes me again and again. I guess it's really worth the time you are taking for it. If I hadn't seen the process already and this thing would've hit me on suprise I'd probably pass out right now but since I followed your steps in the Furnace I was kinda prepared for this so I can control my enthusiasm.
Next time just come out of nowhere and have people literally dropping their jaws on the keyboard.
I agree with the others about the head and the long neck, maybe another base figure's would have been better to use but that's about the only point of crititsizm (which is not even your fault - Toybiz screwed that Aragorn up, not you ).
Perfect job, man!!!

Re: Numenorean of the Last Alliance
As promised, here are some better pics of my numenorean as a thank you to all who voted for this during the Nov CotM competition. I haven't made any mods since the last time besides gluing back some of his sculpey hair that has broken off a couple of times...
I've also hiked up his belt a little bit so his legs don't look quite as short as they used to in my previous photos. Thanks to Proy33 for that feedback.
Enjoy!
Whoa... I just realized I have about 140MB worth of photos of this custom alone!
