LOTR Symphony/ Exhibition Road Trip
marybluefairy and I are finalizing our plans for our trip to Grand Rapids, Michigan for the Oct. 14 (2005) performance of the LOTR Symphony with our own Kruekutt performing in the choir and then on to Indianapolis, Indiana to see the LOTR Museum Exhibition on the 16th (and hopefully ROTK on IMAX on the 15th).
We hope to have dinner and drinks with KK while in GR and possibly meet up with Choopie in Indy for lunch on the 15th.
mbf and I would love the chance to meet with other LOTRG forum members while we're there. If you're interested in meeting up, give us a post here or send us a PM.
Here's to Fellowship!

Re: LOTR Symphony/ Exhibition Road Trip
what she said!
i'm really looking forward to this trip! indianapolis is the absolute last stop for the travelling exhibition, so if you haven't seen it, it's your last chance. no pressure, or anything.

the museum has added a blog (with pics) and is documenting the arrival and set up of the exhibit (just arrived yesterday, apparently).

Re: LOTR Symphony/ Exhibition Road Trip
Darn it!! I'm so annoyed at the reality of not being able to meet you guys there that I could just "soil" something!!!
I am going to be in that area in late December-- I've got TONS of family in Indianapolis-- so since the exbition doesn't close until Jan 3 there may yet be a fool's hope.
It'll be lonely without all of you, though....

Re: LOTR Symphony/ Exhibition Road Trip
I really wish I am able to join all of you. This actually seems to be the first time this many forum members are meeting up with each other and I would have loved to put some face to names. Of course the symphony and exhibition is a nice bonus. Have fun and take lots of pictures.

cco, I wish you were coming too. The more the merrier! I hope we can get some good group shots to post.
I'm pretty determined that we continue to find ways to get together, whether in small groups or large. There isn't anything that says we can't get together for drinks, dinner, movie, picnic, book readings/discussion groups, etc. People just have to make the effort.
I wish more people posted the area they live in so it would be easier to contact each other for these kind of get-togethers. As for me, I don't know anyone else here at LOTRG that lives in Iowa. I know there are a few members from the surrounding states.
I looking at starting a Tolkien bookclub at my local library. We can read the books and have discussion time. The Tolkien Society is good at helping promote these activities.
I hope people will use the Dunharrow site to start posting more get-togethers. And I hope more members start looking at these Dunharrow threads.
Ooh, I'm off topic. Sorry.
I can hardly wait for this trip. I'm excited about meeting everyone.

exactly. cco and i had a lot of lotr-related fun this weekend! but the two of us can't be the only ones who like to get together for ringer-riffic hijinks! it would be nice to at least know what state people lived in (in the detailed profile if not under the avatar). i know for a fact there's at least one other person from iowa on the guide. i'm like the keeper of the addresses around here (my palm pilot knows all, mwuhahaha! ).
well as mod of this section, i guess i have to step it up a notch! i do want to remind people that the dunharrow section is not just for cons, signings, and big events. don't limit yourselves, post a thread:
if you want to catch a trilogy viewing in your area and want someone like-minded to go with (or are willing to host one)
if you want to go "mathom" hunting (toy runs or checking out that new sword shop at the mall)
if you want to have a lotr-related moot or muster of any kind, feel free!

Re: LOTR Symphony/ Exhibition Road Trip
Hey Dune,
If you do decide to go to Indy for the exhibit, let me know. I can come out and meet you..so you won't feel so lonely. I plan on seeing the exhibit at least twice since it's so close to home.
Perhaps you can drag more of our western U.S. LOTRG members with you.

I don't know about that. I'll have to talk to my agent and see what's up with appearance fees, likeness rights, etc.

LOTR Exhibition (Indianapolis) and Symphony (Grand Rapids, 10/14)
The Indiana State Museum has been updating their blog which so far discusses the delicate task of unpacking and setting up displays.
http://www.indianamuseumlotr.blogspot.com/
The exhibit opens in about a week, and it does look like it's shaping up nicely. Just two more weeks till I board that plane! Now, how am I going to get that Boromir out of there...hmm....better go rent a copy of "Weekend at Bernie's" for inspiration.
